Although I haven''t burned wood in this stove yet, i think this it will work for what I want. It goes together easily; I didn''t follow the directions since it was pretty obvious. It will fit in my pack easily for day hikes because it packs so flat, and is of the right size for cooking on the grate or in a pan. Due to the angle/openness of the side panels, care must be taken to clear an area for the fire pit so that hot embers don''t start a fire outside the stove. The openings are quite large and embers will certainly fall out. Altogether, I think this stove will work exactly for what I want it for, and I will be pleased!
