Three- and four-person tents range from compact sleeping tents to large shelters with separate bedrooms. Choose using the inner floor plan and your actual bedding. Overall shelter dimensions include space that may be used for living, storage or access rather than sleeping.
Add mattress widths, check their lengths and leave space to enter and exit. Four 65 cm mats need 260 cm of combined width before any clearance; four 80 cm mats need 320 cm. These are planning calculations, not guaranteed fits: tapered floors, sloping walls and the door position can reduce usable space. Stretchers need clearance above floor level too.
A small family with a living area
Consider the Land Nest Shelter TP-259. Snow Peak lists 3–4 occupants; the included inner room has maximum listed dimensions of about 338 × 220 × 180 cm. Check the shaped floor plan against your beds rather than treating those dimensions as a clear rectangle.
An air-frame basecamp
The Bunker lists an inner room of about 180 × 250 cm. That bedroom needs a separate bedding check even though the overall shelter is much larger. An extension increases covered space, not automatically the supplied bedroom capacity.
More beds or wider mattresses
Compare larger family tents and the Land Lock TP-671R. A larger occupancy label is useful only when the floor shape, exit route and packed load work for your trip.
Match the tent to how you travel
For a vehicle-based stay, weigh living space against boot room and lifting weight. For a walking trip, compare actual packed weight instead of assuming that a 3–4-person label means a light tent.
